Oxidation States

Think of an atom in a molecule as a player on a cricket field. The Oxidation State is like keeping score – it’s a hypothetical charge we assign to track which atom is holding the 'ball' (the electrons)! A higher score means it's gained control; a lower score means it's lost it.
